    I've read about about this place here and there and finally tried it. Pretty darn good. The crust is thicker than most NH pizzas. The toppings were plentiful. I loved the traditional red sauce and grated cheese pizza too :) My kids  loved the meatball pizza! The mediums are as big as a large in most places! The only thing I would change is the mushrooms...

    Staff was pleasant too.

    Good overall Pizza...Good to go to if the other TOP New Haven Legends are extremely busy

    However not as good as Pepe's or Sally's

    Ernie's always brings a smile to my family whether we eat in or take out.
    Their meatballs are exceptional
    Great crust
    Let favorite is white pizza with garlic and broccoli with a bit of onion.
    Great pizza, great service

    Ernie's was one of the New Haven pizzerias mentioned in The Pizza Show (S01E02) so it's on par with all the other top apizza shops in the area. The shop is about 2 miles from Exit 59 off the Merritt Parkway so it's a convenient location. The only food sold here is pizza and garden salad, and they do very well on both. The small garden salad ($5) is loaded with grape tomatoes and cucumbers and can easily serve 2 people. They also sell Foxon Park soda ($1.60/bottle)

    I ordered a medium Ernie's Special (sausage and mushroom) but it's really a large pie as it has 10 slices. The crust is crispy but very light and loaded with air pockets. I asked to have my pie baked light so the crust wasn't charred. The toppings are very generous and hearty. The crust is a bit thick on the outside so it's gets a bit tricky to eat a slice when you fold it. I'll definitely stop by here again next time I'm in the area.

    One of my favorite pizza places. This pizza place been here in new haven for so many years every since I was a young girl. The pizza still remain so  good. I love the fact that this restaurant is family own so it definitely makes you feel comfortable. Can't wait to come back to Connecticut to get some of that really good pizza.
